Since 1958, Japan’s Tokyo Tower is the world’s tallest self-supporting iron tower. Visitors can ascend to the main observatory at 150 meters and the special observatory at 250 meters for a spectacular, 360 degree panoramic view of Tokyo.
Under ideal weather conditions, especially in the winter, the Boso and Miura peninsulas (on either side of Tokyo Bay); Yokohama and the Landmark Tower; Hakone and Mt. Fuji to the west; and Mt. Tsukuba to the northeast are visible.
Modeled after Paris’s Eiffel Tower, the Tokyo Tower is 333 meters tall, 13 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower. The tower weighs 4,000 tons in comparison to the Eiffel Tower which weighs-in at 7,000 tons.
The tower serves as an antenna tower for 14 local Japanese television and radio stations. A four story building beneath the tower houses an aquarium, wax museum and Mysterious Walking Zone, featuring hologram art, and the Tokyo Tower Trick Art Gallery. Separate entrance fees apply to each attraction.

The closest subway stations are Onarimon Station on the Mita Line and Akabanebashi Station on the Oedo Line.
Tokyo Tower is also a 10 minute walk from Hamamatsucho Station on the JR Yamanote and JR Keihin-Tohoku Line.
